![]() It's also going to need very good soft stats too, though. Fortunately, the French 17" guns seem to have very nice hard stats, with good muzzle velocity and penetration and probably nice heavy shells. I think an 8-gun BB can work at tier 10 without overmatch shenanigans, but it will need very favorable numbers on its other stats. If BB balance is really that simplistic then what are all those other stats even for? Losing 4 guns is big if you don't have Yamato power and accuracy.I don't think a tier 10 BB absolutely needs either 460 mm guns or 12 rifles to be viable. If I need to make a long range BB salvo, Montana is extremely comfortable as the shells feel consistent at range. High Tier USN BBs have terrible velocity but their shells hold up very well at range due to how heavy they are. The only thing of good note about France's guns are the high velocity but we don't know their weight, if they hold up well at range. HE damage & velocity: 8200 & 757m/s / 6300 & 840 m/sĪP damage & velocity: 14900 & 762m/s / 14500 & 840m/sĪgain, a big complaint about Conqueror's 457 are not only the lack of LOLPEN ability, but it's still not accurate enough to make up for lost guns compared to the 12 gun standard at Tier X. Max Dispersion: 302m at 24.25km / 322 at 26.1km (close enough between the two considering the ranges) Yamato gets away with 9 due to super accuracy and 460mm LOLPEN ability. They're not accurate, reliable enough for the shortfall of guns when the standard of Tier X is 12 rifles of Montana, GK. They're terrible guns for what you get for such a small gun count. First, ignore all the hoopla of the 419mm set of guns, just look at the 457s. To tack onto this, look at Conqueror 457s. Conqueror got a great showing, now France must pay the price and suck a- as a result. I also believe that after the drama over Conqueror, WG set out to make as underwhelming and plain, weak Tier X BB as possible. Personally, I don't like the idea of how Graf Spee is way down in Tier VI Cruisers and I do not like the idea that France is simply more of that at Tier X BBs. ![]() The Conqueror 419mm's could also be but nobody ever uses their AP, hence why we Cruiser players love Conqueror 12 16"/50 guns have power, accuracy, range, and most importantly, mass of fire. The Real Cruiser Killer at Tier X BBs is Montana. This thing is a designed cruiser killer.Ĩ guns is less chances for a hit, and there will be plenty of times France can't get both turrets to fire off so it's quite possible only 4 guns are being used. So it doesn’t matter how well the cruiser you’re firing at angles because you’re still going to wreck them. 431mm guns will be able to overmatch 30mm. They can overmatch all the cruisers, with the exception of Moskva I believe. Whether the French had such a design or not is the real question. It would be easy enough to split the model between the superstructure and the A turret and add a B turret there. The French even realized it wasn't a great idea to be completely vulnerable from the rear, and were moving away from the all-forward layout even on the Richelieus (See: Gascogne)Īs far as fixing the ship. The only reason the all forward French layouts exist is because they were trying to work around shortcomings in their shipbuilding capabilities. I'm utterly baffled by how anybody could think an A-X layout was a good idea for this ship instead of sticking with the iconic all-forward layout of the actual post-WW1 French BBs. The only way to salvage this mess is to send it back to the 3D modeling team and have them completely redesign the ship to have an all-forward layout. And that's not something that can be fixed just by changing a few numbers in the stats. The problem here is that France's biggest problem isn't the gun stats like was the case with Henri IV.
